Crash and Breathe

Oh dear me, kittie cat crashed this afternoon. I was going and going and going and then all of a sudden I just needed to rest. I have these rejuvenation moments where I just lie down and close my eyes for a bit. I never fall asleep, I just zone out and when it's done, it's done and I pop up ready as ever. Today's was a little longer than usual because I had a headache as well but still the same deal.

Dinner last night was pretty good. I decided to try the tomato basil soup they had. I'm trying not to eat only salads so even though there will be lots of lettuce that you see from now on, I'm adding other things to the mix.

(Pardon the take out container, this will not be the last.)
I had a sandwich of Arnold whole wheat bread and cheese to dip in the soup.

It was sadly rushed because a hall meeting was called right as I was getting to the soup and I had to run to class right afterward. :(

We finally brought the microwave up so I got to have some oats this morning!
The microwave gave it a little hat...
All mixed up. Yum!
With some almond butter...
...and half caf coffee.

I got to my Education class (Over prepared once again, just the way I like it!) and it's just an hour then I had Public Speaking and I'm really excited about it. Am I a weirdo for being excited for Public Speaking? I'm really good at speech writing and presentation. I have no idea why because I'm actually really pretty shy.

For lunch I grabbed another salad and some fruit.
Romaine, grape tomatoes, red onion, red bell pepper, peas, three bean salad, banana peppers, mushrooms, cucumbers, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli, and pickles. Phew.
What's in the box, you ask?
This morning I prepped a MaraNatha Crunchy Almond Butter and sugar free blackberry jam.
Can you say yumz?
I like to chop up my fruit.
Cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, pineapple.

I had a snack of Greek yogurt this afternoon. It's been a while since Greek made an appearance on here, hasn't it? Well, this isn't my beloved Fage but oh my gosh it was good.
I've seen these but every blogger who I've seen try them said they were no good. Because of bad reviews I hadn't tried them until now when college budget shopping is all I can afford.
I added Autumn Butter, frozen blueberries, granola, and a bit of pumpkin pie trail mix.
This was so good. Thick and tart, I loved it. I don't like Okios so maybe those who are fans of the O' don't like it...?
Well, I'm off to write a speech! Talk to you lovelies later.

Hooked on Phonics and Tweaking on Literature.

I am tweaking out. Bouncing in my seat, squealing, jumping at random moments (mostly alone), blaring Bach, brewing decaf hazelnut coffee, shaking, the whole deal. Why? Why you ask? WHY? Because today this little herbivore had her first day of classes as a college SOPHOMORE!

Technically the day is not over, I have a 6:35 pm class. Why so late? It's OBSERVATIONAL ASTRONOMY!!!! *feelings of pure LOVE* (I'm an Astro minor)

This is what I live for, you guys. This is what makes my world turn, this is the absolute only thing that can kick me into gear. Oh, someone pinch me. (I think my roommate wants to...)

This weekend I spent hours reading my new text books so I'm like....so far ahead of everyone else it's a little silly but oh dear lord I'm happy!

This morning I nourished my brain with an incredibly balanced bowl full of everything I need!
  • 3/4c Kix
  • 1/3c Kashi honey H2H
  • 1/3c yogurt
  • 1/2 white peach
  • Sun Butter
  • Almond milk
We haven't brought up the microwave yet so I'm workin' with cold breakfasts but I have really liked these bowls!

Then I headed to Intermediate French. (yikes! It's been two years since I finished my third year of French)

Don't I look studious?
It went really well! I remembered so much and was able to answer Madam's questions fairly easily.

After that I booked it to Intro to Philosophy where I have read ahead three sections heh....my professor reminds me of what Leonard from The Big Bang Theory would be like in real life and as a middle aged man! He tweaks out, too!

I went to the cafeteria for lunch (meal plan) and to my surprise they had baked potatoes today! I usually can only get a salad there and I had brought some crackers and an apple to supplement but I got to save them!
Broccoli and green onions on my potato with a big ol' salad on the side.
Lookie what I found at the salad bar! Artichoke! Wow, that's new!

I am so happy right now! I'm off to read the first book of the Odyssey! (English teaching major!) We get to read Hamlet in this course! My favorite!

I lied.

I didn't mean to....but when I said I'd be back later yesterday, I guess I meant I'd be back today. My roommate/best college friend moved in yesterday and her bf/fiance deployed yesterday so I was with her....just to be there.

Anyways, it was more important than blogging, to say the least. But I wanna show you this:
Isn't that a cool picture? I just love it!

Bed:
Decor:
Stuff:
(I asked my father if everyone had this much Hello Kitty stuff [that isn't the half of it, btw] He said "Oh yeah....in Japan." I'll take that... :))
And of course....
Little bag 'O flax seed in the corner ;)
Wrap with cheese, hummus, spinach, and basil. The life of a foodie....

Dinner last night wasn't very foodie-inspired. I wanted a salad but the roomie and I were out too late and the cafe was closed so Wendy's happened. I got a side salad (pathetic) and a baked potato. Cottage cheese was added to the salad and Smart Balance and reduced sugar ketchup to the potato.

I have a confession...I've been bad. Not horrible, but a little bad. Since Friday I have been slightly restricting because I'm afraid of gaining here....this morning's breakfast sort of broke the restriction a bit because I realized I was doing it. Plus I realized I was hungry....but...I'm just going to keep trying and doing my best.
  • 1/3c Oatmeal squares
  • 3/4c Kix
  • 1/3 c peach yogurt
  • Sun Butter
  • Coconut
I also had half a peach with it. Today will be a better day, Kittie pledges to do better.

On my own again...

...and it feels so damned good!

So yesterday I drove the five hours back to campus and moved in!
Drivin' and rockin' (That is a Tiddy Bear. Without it my seat belt chokes me because when my dad test drove it he broke the plastic thing that keeps it away from your neck.)

I'm on the second floor but you enter on the basement so we had to carry everything up three flights of stairs. My arms are feelin' it but my legs are just fine! That's what I get for biking and slacking on strength. I actually have gained some tone to my arms this summer. Key word some.

Let's back up to yesterday morning:
The last meal at that window. What I call "Apple crumble oats." Apple pie oats with granola, a frozen WCW disk melting, and some AB.

Right when we got into town we had lunch at a local Indian restaurant that my dad and I love. Then the unpacking game began. I completely transformed this:
I'll be back later today to show you what it looks like now!

I finished unpacking and arranging around 6:30 and I was starved but my roommate doesn't move in until tomorrow and she has the microwave so I scrounged up a cold dinner:
Faux ham and cheese sandwich with spinach and...dun dun dun....
BASIL!
I ate a white peach to finish. I tried to cut it but that wasn't happening.
I had night time snack of Kix.

And this morning woke up to overnight oats since I still don't have a microwave.
I brought three nearly empty pb jars from home for this very reason!

  • 1/2 c Oat bran
  • 1 T flax
  • 1/4 c apple sauce
  • 2/3 c water
  • 1/4 c frozen blueberries
  • vanilla
  • salt
  • ginger
With cinnamon Puffins...
And coffee. A very special coffee.
Pumpkin Pie!

Stop Me if you've Heard this one Before.

I know I've gone over this but I'm about to leave for school, that means stress. What does stress mean? It means eating gets worse.
Control, control, control.
I need control and the only way I know to get it is through food. Not by eating food but by controlling food.

I've made it to 1,200 calories every day since I started trying to. It's been over a week and I'm keeping it up but I feel horrible. Physically I feel better. Not great but certainly better. But I feel guilty for eating. How sick is that....

Today I had a doctor's appointment. In the general list of questions they asked: "Do you have any personal history with Anorexia or Bulimia?"
I said:
".....
yes..."
She said:
"which one?
"
"......
both....."
*Checks box*

I was in a panic. I mean she went on, it wasn't related to the appointment, it was no. big. deal. Why was I freaking? I have been to tons of doctors. I have...pretty bad luck with health and a terrifyingly low white blood cell count. I know I've been asked that hugely generic question before. As a matter of fact, I was there a month before and I'm sure they asked. So what was the problem?
I've never said yes before today.
What changed?
I think...I've admitted it now...I think I want it to be gone. I know I want it to be gone...I'm just a little afraid to let it go.

Ugh...well, since I am eating and this is a food blog, not a hear Kittie whine blog. Here is breakfast...
Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin English Muffin, 1/2 mashed banana with cinnamon, home made jam, apple slices.

And lunch...

Spinach, cucumber, tomato, onion, avocado, carrot, TJ's whole grain pita chip crumbles, tons of ground black pepper, steamed snow peas, and a life water.

Brand Spankin' New

I got new shoes. Aren't they pretty? I didn't have real sneakers so I went to the TJ Maxx for the last thing on my "To get before college" list.

I leave Friday to move in for my Sophomore year. I'm so happy. I'm not sure what my eats will look like but be sure you'll see 'em with me.

You want to see the very best pancakes I have ever made? I think this recipe is a keeper. I made it up myself.
So moist...
So delicious.

Banana Bread Pancakes for one:
1/4 c Whole Wheat Flour
1/4 c Oat Bran
1 t baking powder
Dash salt
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
Sweetener to taste
1/4 large, 1/2 small banana, mashed
1/2 c water
1 T egg white
1 T chopped pepitas

Mix dry and wet ingredients separately then combine and cook on greased griddle or pan or whatever you use for pancakes.
Voila. Perfection.

I have had two amazing lunches recently.
Quesadilla on TJ's habanero lime tortilla.
1/2 faux chicken cutlet, laughing cow, mustard, onion, tomato, cucumber, and avocado on Arnold bread.
So good.
